Portsmouth Water help set up Covid-19 testing site

Portsmouth Water call to action to help set up Government Covid-19 Testing Site at Tipner in Portsmouth

Today we have a network maintenance team helping to provide a permanent water connection to the new Government Covid-19 Testing site in Portsmouth.

The water supply will provide running water to the site providing essential welfare facilities to enable effective handwashing for the temporary cabins and toilet blocks.

Bob Taylor, CEO of Portsmouth Water, said “Once we were made aware of the new testing site being earmarked for Tipner we quickly asked ourselves what we could do to help. Initially the site planned to use water bowsers but we thought we could do better and we engaged our resources quickly to find a better and more resilient solution.”

“Therefore, I am delighted that today our network maintenance teams have been working round the clock to get the infrastructure in place so the testing site can open later this week. This has all been done by us free of charge and is just our way helping the community in these challenging times.”

“We were delighted to offer our support and resources for the important new facility.”
