Supplies have been largely restored to Hayling Island, but the water pressure is likely to be lower than normal today for many residents.
We are working to repair our broken main and expect this to be completed by this evening, when demand for water will rise as people return home from work. As a precaution, we are planning contingency arrangements to manage supplies in the event of the repair taking longer than expected.
Unfortunately the burst has washed away materials supporting the road where it occurred. This represents a significant risk to traffic, so the road has had to be closed, in agreement with Hampshire Highways, and is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day. Marked diversions are in place for road users.
We apologise for the continued inconvenience and disruption that this burst has caused.
