Yesterday morning at just after 6.30 am a control valve supplying water to the Gosport area failed to operate as normal resulting in water supplies to approx. 100,000 customers being affected, with either lower pressure than usual or in a few cases loss of supply.
The problem was quickly identified and remedied by 8.30am so that the majority of customers were back to normal levels of service.
Bob Taylor, Portsmouth Water CEO said ‘We sincerely apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused following this unusual event, particularly in view of the timing of the disruption over the busy breakfast time period. We continue to investigate the root cause of the incident to prevent a reoccurrence.’
