For the fifth year running Portsmouth Water has received the RoSPA President’s Award, one of the internationally renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards and the longest-running industry safety awards scheme in the UK.
The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems and working practices such as leadership, communication and workforce engagement.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Qualifications, Awards and Events, said: “The RoSPA Awards have become a key feature in the health and safety calendar with new sponsors and new awards this year including the Leisure Safety Awards, the Safe@Work Award and the Inspiration Awards. Highly-respected, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, RoSPA award winners benefit from much improved sector reputation.”
The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, President’s Awards, Orders of Distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.
CEO, Bob Taylor, on hearing the news said, “It is excellent news that we have once again been awarded the prestigious President’s Award from RoSPA. This is the fifth consecutive year that we have received this award, this in addition to previously winning 10 gold awards.
This award is high recognition of our achievements in Health and Safety over many years and true testimony of the effort everyone in the Company has made to make Portsmouth Water a safer place to work.
Holding the RoSPA President’s Award for Health and Safety provides external assurance of the quality of our health, safety and well-being approach; this is clearly an important accolade and I am pleased that the relentless efforts of our staff and supply chain partners are being recognised in this way.”
