Water Resource Management Plan – consultation closing soon

YOUR WATER AND ITS FUTURE
over 2,000 responses but closing date coming soon.

Our draft water resource management plan which we sent out in March for consultation with customers and stakeholders inviting them to have a say about how we plan to secure water supplies for the next 25 years has received over 2,000 responses from customers.

The draft plan proposes how we will secure resilient water supplies for our customers for the next 25 years. We have considered how much water we have available today, how much we need to supply in the future and then developed a number of options to make up any difference.

These plans are updated every five years to make sure they always reflect the latest information, innovation and customer views.

The plan for meeting our future needs includes proposal to reduce leakage by 15%, install more water meters to help customers to save water. We have also looked at our current water resources and as a result propose to build a new reservoir at Havant Thicket – to store water, create a nature reserve and provide community facilities as well as allowing us to provide valuable water resources for the south east region in general.

Neville Smith, Managing Director of Portsmouth Water said on the number of customer responses to the consultation “I am delighted that so many of our customers have shown an interest and have taken the time to look at the proposals and importantly let us know their views. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and at the end of the consultation we will analyse all the responses to help us formulate the final plan.”

The consultation is open until 25th May 2018 so there is still time for customers to learn more about our plans to secure water supplies in the future and have their say. Just visit www.portsmouthwater.co.uk.
