Even with the lowest bills in England and Wales we are determined to continue to deliver a high quality water service providing a safe, secure and reliable supply of high quality drinking water aligned with excellent customer service as well as providing value for money for our customers.
With this in mind we have limited any increase to our bills for the period 2017/18 to 1.8% (effective from 1st July). Our average household water bill for 2017/18 will be £100 which is considerably lower than any other water company with the average household water bill for England and Wales being £185.
Our approach to keep bills as low as possible is in line with our business plan for 2015 to 2020. As a result our customers will continue to benefit from having the lowest water bills in England and Wales.
During the period 2015 to 2020 we will be investing in our network by increasing our capital spending by 20% which will allow us to continue to supply high quality drinking water whilst providing excellent levels of service for our customers at the lowest price in the country.
We also understand the current pressures on family incomes especially for the more vulnerable in our society. 2016 saw us introduce our helping hand tariff specifically designed to help households with an overall income of less than Government’s low income threshold (currently £16,105). This caps the water bill at our minimum charge (from 1st July this will be £76.86). So far just under 2,000 customer have taken advantage of our helping hand tariff.
